In ancient China, before the reign of the first emperor, warring factions throughout the Six Kingdoms plot to assassinate the most powerful ruler, Qin. When a minor official defeats Qin's three principal enemies, he is summoned to the palace to tell Qin the story of his surprising victory.
nudity | 4/10 A man is strip searched, his butt can be seen from behind. This starts at approx 04:35 depending on which version/region/etc... A man lays on a woman and rips her robe off, however, nothing explicit is shown. Moaning and grunting are heard. The figures of a giggling man and woman are seen under the sheets of a bed, it is implied they have sex. This starts at approx 31:00 depending on which version/region/etc... |
violence | 7/10 Lots and lots of mild to moderate martial arts violence, most are carried with swords that clash, little hand-to-hand combat (kicking/punching) which somehow makes it less violent than the genre is considered to be. Sometimes there's stabbing with crunch sounds but it's mostly bloodless and/or Off-Screen, in an exceptional scene a woman is stabbed and we see the sword still impaled in her abdomen, she throws it away and we see a single drop of blood on it. A few other similar scenes without the blood and a bit less graphic. Two people storm a palace that has thousands of guards, using their swords they attack all the guards (we see close ups of their swords cutting the guards' swords and shields) and it's implied that they slash/stab many of the guards, the camera is away from them during the implied scene. We see a distant shot from the sky were hundreds possibly thousands of guards are on the ground possibly dead while the two attackers are still slashing through the crowd of guards. In a couple of scenes it literally rains arrows, we see the arrows penetrate the roof of an institute and hit many of the scholars, sometimes violently in the head (Brief and from a distance, but very emotional) and once a person (yet the camera cuts away). In a scene the leaves of a forest turn into blood-red as a character dies, it's not gory at all, but it's very artistic emotional. Almost all the fights are choreographed in a matter that makes it look like a dance more than a fight. Violent references. |
profanity | 0/10 None |
alcohol | 1/10 Nameless is asked twice to drink with the King. |
frightening | 3/10 Even though none of the fight scenes are strong/graphic they have a strong emotional impact, in matter of fact the whole movie is emotionally unrelenting and disturbing. Total Score: 15/50 |
