There isn't any real sex or nudity, but there is a scene in which a couple are kissing under a blanket and a condom is shown. In the opening of the film, there is a woman who pulls down her mining suit to her hip, and is seen in her bra. Overall no strong or explicit sex or nudity is shown.

Harriet is known as the town virgin, and when she and Mike go off in the coal mine together, their friends make jokes and innuendo about them having sex. They are later impaled on top of each other by a large mining drill.
Patty and Hollace frequently flirt with each other in childish ways, such as tickling each other, hugging and kissing to no end.
Sarah and Axel frequently tongue-kiss, and then Sarah falls for T.J. again and passioately kisses him on a beach polluted by the coal mines. This causes a love triangle between the three friends and Axel tells Sarah that "oh, well you just love this, don't you?"
Mabel has a silly crush on Chief Newby, but not in an intimate way.
The miners get the evening off and have a car race towards the union hall. As they leave the mine, Hollace's pants fall down, revealing his boxer shorts. Howard, not wanting to be last in the race as he's hitching a ride with Hollace, tries to pull Hollace's pants up but Hollace kicks him in the butt as they reach the car.
Tommy comes into the mine to search for Sylvia (unknowing that she's been impaled on the showerhead). When he hears the showers running, he says "hey, all right! All right!" excitedly, assuming that she's going to shower with him. He tells her that he's going to come in and shower with her but instead he finds her body.

The film is pretty intense in its use of violence, gore, scares.
It contains several chase scenes as well as a large body count.
There are also some (very) vaguely tense scenes involving domestic conflict over a love triangle.
Some deaths may be considered disturbing, and all are very graphic.
The miner may frighten some.
The whole movie is also very mean-spirited.
The uncut version is very graphic, frightening and gory throughout
