Ali (Brewer) is a youthful comedienne who aches to follow in the strides of her once notable comic dad yet who can't perform out of dread that she will endure his equivalent destiny. With expectations of vanquishing her feelings of trepidation, Ali starts taking composition classes yet before long finds that the expense of the classes, in addition to those of her cousin Kyle's (Tann) looming wedding, constrain her to take a second employment helping a maturing teacher (Dowd) as she gets ready to move out of her home. Through each new relationship, Ali finds that she should accommodate her issues with defenselessness so as to locate her very own way.
