Anna, a fearless optimist, sets off on an epic journey - teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven - to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. From the outside Annas sister, Elsa looks poised, regal and reserved, but in reality, she lives in fear as she wrestles with a mighty secret-she was born with the power to create ice and snow. Its a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers. Her mounting emotions trigger the magic, accidentally setting off an eternal winter that she cant stop. She fears shes becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.
nudity | A snowman asks another man to grab his butt, when he was actually asking to grab his lower part (his upper body was separated when he fell from a cliff). A character asks another character about foot size to which the other character replies "Foot size doesn't matter" |
violence | When they're children, Elsa accidentally hits Anna in the head with an ice blast, knocking her unconscious. Anna recovers, but without the memory of Elsa's ice-making power. Anna and Elsa's parents are lost at sea. At a ball, Anna accidentally smacks Hans in the face. Anna and Kristoff are chased by wolves, and attacked by a giant snowman that Elsa created. They fall off a cliff, but land in deep snow, unharmed. Olaf gets impaled by an icicle but no blood is shown and he said, "Oh, look at that. I've been impaled." But in a comic way. Elsa accidentally hits Anna with an ice blast in the heart, condemning Anna to slowly freeze to death without an act of true love to save her. As the movie progresses, Anna's health deteriorates; she's shown pale and shivering, eventually succumbing entirely. Hans and his men battle the giant snowman. Two of his men make it into Elsa's castle, where they fire arrows at her, and she responds by attacking them with ice blasts. One of the men fires an arrow aimed at Elsa, but Hans redirects the shot, causing a giant ice chandelier to fall. No one is harmed. When Anna is leading a blindfolded Kristoff, he smacks into a pole. Hans reveals that he doesn't love Anna, and is only interested in acquiring her throne. He leaves her alone to die, telling others that she has already died at Elsa's hand. He then sets out to kill Elsa, climaxing with him swinging a sword at Elsa, but Anna freezes and shatters the sword when she herself freezes. But her act of true love saves her, and she returns to normal. Later, she punches Hans in the face. |
profanity | None |
alcohol | Various drinks are served at Elsa's coronation ceremony. Hot glogg is mentioned in the scene where Hans is handing out cloaks. |
frightening | Many frightening events include the tension between Anna and Elsa, their parents' funeral, the idea that Arendelle might be in an endless winter, Olaf's melting face, Elsa's ice powers, and Elsa's fears that she'll turn into a monster. For first-timers, the reveal of Hans' villainy can be startling and frightening. Elsa creates a giant snow monster that may appear frightening to some small children. Elsa almost intentionally kills two men (who were out to hurt her), but is interrupted. The climax of the intimate time can be intense and somewhat emotional Anna's "death" when she sacrifices herself to save Elsa, ends up completely freezing solid and Elsa's grieving to Anna's apparent "death" can be very saddening (for a moment). |
