nudity | 4/10 The beginning of the film shows a scene set in a male shower. There are a number of old men naked from the waist up, with some glimpses of the mens bottoms from behind. When Greg jumps into the pool from the high platform, his shorts accidentally get caught and he falls into the pool naked (not seen). He then remains there until the very end of the day, out of fear of people seeing him without any clothes. Rodrick attempts to catch the attention of a female lifeguard by pretending to drown. An older man sees and pulls him out of the pool instead, proceeding to give him CPR. Roderick is seen crying and distressed afterwards. There is a side-plot revolving around Greg wanting Holly to be his girlfriend (Greg has a crush on Holly and tells Rowley) Rodrick wants another teenager (Heather) to be his girlfriend, towards the end of the movie, Rodrick sings 'Baby' (Justin Bieber) to her, although it doesn't work out. In Greg's imagination, Holly marries Chirag. |
violence | 3/10 Greg and his father go to a civil war re-enactment. Men start opening fire and Greg runs away in fear, despite the weapons not being real Greg and Rowley play tennis with two girls they continually get hit with tennis balls (Rowley gets hit in the crotch, whilst Greg himself gets hit in the face) Greg calls 911 in a misguided attempt to escape Rowleys family holiday. When Rowleys dad answers the door holding a bread knife hed been using, he is tackled to the floor by two policemen Whilst on camp, Greg accidentally hits his fathers hand with a mallet At the birthday party of Hollys sister, Roderick performs a bad musical act Hollys sister then yells Im going to kill you! before swinging a microphone stand at him. Greg has ants crawl all over his hand. |
profanity | 3/10 6 mild scatological terms and we see the band name "Loded Diper" on the side of a van, 2 mild anatomical terms, 2 exclamations (shut up), 1 religious exclamation. Name calling (crazy, idiots, midgets, phony, wounded gazelle, loser, weak, little kid, shrimp, ridiculous and suckers. ) Stereotype references to parents, children, teenagers, nerds, mean girls, the rich, Asian Indians, bullies and youth scouting groups. |
alcohol | 1/10 Waiters serve drinks around a pool and we hear that some of the drinks are smoothies that look like alcoholic cream drinks (we do not see the adults drink and kids drink smoothies.) |
frightening | 2/10 There are several scenes that are not intended to be frightening, but are intense in a comedic way, notably the final scene at Heather Hills' birthday party and when Greg and Frank chase their dog around the house. Bathroom humor should know there are many jokes about pee, farts, boogers, dog spit, etc. 13/50 - 8+ |
