One year after Mike Lawford's young son disappeared during a Halloween carnival, he is haunted by eerie images and terrifying messages he can't explain. Together with his estranged wife, he will stop at nothing to unravel the mystery and find their son-and, in doing so, he unearths a legend that refuses to remain buried in the past.
nudity | A couple starts to get romantic and it is implied that they have sex. Not shown. |
violence | the main theme of the movie is that an Irish Celtic woman and her children were burned at the stake 100s of years ago. Every Halloween the women returns to steal three children from the living world in exchange for hers being burned alive. If the parent returns within one year of the child being stolen they can have their child back otherwise they are lost forever in the "other realm". This ghost will kill anyone and everything that stands in her path so she can keep the children locked away forever. Surprisingly not much violence for a horror movie. One graphic scene of a women self mutilating herself while possessed by her son. She then snaps out of it and doesn't realize she was cutting herself. Later she shows the cut to a women who may be able interpret what the cuts mean (Could be most violent scene) One women is possessed and thrown against a wall and is later revealed she burned up from the inside as shown in an autopsy. A women is thrown from a building to her death (seen from a distance so not very graphic) One scene with a car accident and it is revealed the driver died instantly. He is shown being wheeled away on a gurney. |
profanity | There are infrequent uses of coarse language present, namely the swear word 'f**k' |
alcohol | A scene at a carnival that implies people are drinking/drunk A couple visits a father who's daughter disappeared a few years ago and he turned into an Alcoholic/Junkie and is shown to have just injected heroin. A couple have a glass of wine at dinner. |
frightening | Throughout the film, there are jump scenes with the shock impact heightened by the soundtrack The main theme of the movie is child abduction, which may upset some viewers. Also a reference to child molestation/pedophiles/sex offenders. (When questioning what could've happened to their son) |
