Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people's houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine Wise, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos .
nudity | 4/10 A male humanoid alien is shown floating in a cloud of sparkles, with women surrounding him. There is no nudity, but it is implied to be an orgy. Moaning is heard. The main male character is shirtless for a very long scene, but it is not sexual. There are brief shots of humans lying in chambers as they are harvested. They are apparently naked, but no sensitive regions are seen. A female character enters a pool and emerges twenty years younger. When she leaves the pool, she is seen naked from behind. Her bare back and buttocks are visible. A woman is seen wearing her bra and underwear as she decides what dress to wear. Some characters throughout the film wear clothes that reveal cleavage, stomach, and leg. There are a couple kissing scenes in the movie, but none are very lengthy. |
violence | 6/10 Men burst into a home, steal money and shoot a man sitting next to his pregnant wife; she screams and we see blood on his chest, abdomen and on her hand as he lies on the floor with open eyes. Three extended fight scenes in space feature gigantic mother ships and dozens of smaller ships, blasting lasers and other weapons at one another; in one scene, the smaller ships are in the form of lobsters with moving claws that they smash into skyscrapers, breaking windows and some crash out of the shot with loud noises and flames while others return to a larger ship, which warps out of the area; one sequence shows many buildings in a large city ignite into flames, burn with smoke, crumble while some towers explode loudly and rebuild themselves immediately. Two men have a fist fight outside a house. A woman's life is threatened in a medical exam room by aliens disguised as medical doctors and nurses. A huge fight breaks out between the aliens and the hunter sent for her. A woman fights with a humanoid including punching, kicking and body slams; the humanoid stabs at the woman's throat with a metal staff (no blood) and hits her with it several times as pillars and walls fall; the woman jumps away to a wall and then again to a platform and the humanoid catches up (he has a bloody lip) and slugs the woman as she drives her fingers into a bloody wound on his leg, he screams and falls off a crumbling wall and a soldier flies on rocket boots and catches the woman. A soldier fights dragon-men, shooting several dead with big scorch marks and driving a metal spike through the tail of one (without blood) and as the dragon chokes him with his tail he drops to the floor. Humans are seen in the process of being harvested, numerous rods poking into their skin to remove their DNA. |
profanity | 4/10 A handful of sh*ts, d*mns, and other lesser profanities. F*ck is also used once, but it's muffled and easy to miss. |
alcohol | 1/ Nothing really except for some casual wine drinking among some of the royal characters. |
frightening | The action sequences are pretty intense but are very glorified and spectacular, but not in a terrifying manner Balem's Lizard henchmen could frighten kids. The weird little martian aliens could also be scary to children. A character is held unconscious in a system with numerous arms that carry tools for taking a persons body apart. This is used to threaten another character in the film, and could be disturbing for some viewers. |
