It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family named Kevin got into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz and was sent to his room which is on the third floor of his house. Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forgot about Kevin who now has the house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents' bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv, about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly by wiring his own house with makeshift booby traps to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.
nudity | Kevin looks at a Playboy Magazine in Buzz's private stuff but it only shows the front cover. Buzz and his cousin talk about french babe's not shaving their pits and them having nude beaches. |
violence | Kevin watches a movie called Angles with Filthy Souls and a robbery happens with the character named Johnny killing another man with a machine gun. Not graphic, but smoke can be seen. Black and white. Comedic action and slapstick violence: Kevin climbs the shelf in Buzz's room and it breaks, he and everything falls. Kevin shoots action figures down the laundry chute with Buzz's BB gun. Kevin sets traps for the bad guys. They burn themselves, step on stuff that hurts, fall on stuff etc. They step on spikes and ornaments that hurt their feet, while wearing no shoes nor socks, get hit in the head with an iron, slip on ice, and get hit with a paint can. |
profanity | - 1 use of Shit - 2 uses of Ass - 2 uses of Damn - 3 uses of Hell |
alcohol | Mild drinking on the plane. A man dressed as Santa Clause smokes a cigarette. |
frightening | Robbers are threatening towards Kevin. [spoilers]Robbers finally catch Kevin and hang him on a door hook by his jumper.[/spoilers] They then threaten to 'blow his head with a blowtorch', 'smash his face with an iron', 'shove a nail through his foot' and 'bite his fingers off'. However, [spoilers]Kevin is saved by Marley[/spoilers] and none of the actions take place. Intense and quite frightening. The slapstick finale is comically intended yet some of the booby traps ([spoilers]For example; one of the robbers steps bare foot on a rusty nail sticking up on the floor[/spoilers]) can be fairly disturbing/cringeworthy for young children or particularly squeamish viewers. No blood is ever shown in these sequences. BBFC - (PG): moderate slapstick violence, threat, infrequent mild bad language. |
