A small-town father must find the courage and conviction to share his sons extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world.
Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling book of the same name, HEAVEN IS FOR REAL brings to the screen the true story of a small-town father who must find the courage and conviction to share his sons extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world. The film stars Academy Award® nominee and Emmy® award winning actor Greg Kinnear as Todd Burpo and co-stars Kelly Reilly as Sonja Burpo, the real-life couple whose son Colton (newcomer Connor Corum) claims to have visited Heaven during a near death experience. Colton recounts the details of his amazing journey with childlike innocence and speaks matter-of-factly about things that happened before his birth ... things he couldnt possibly know. Todd and his family are then challenged to examine the meaning from this remarkable event.
nudity | 0/10 This is a Christian Movie so there is no sex or nudity |
violence | 2/10 Todd slides into third base during a church softball game, resulting in a sickening crunch and what appears to be a severely broken leg. We see him writhing in pain on the ground and glimpse the bloody wound. One of the first people to his side says "it looks like a spiral fracture". With blood present it was possibly a compound fracture having broken the skin. Defending her little brother from taunts at school, Cassie hits two bullies in the face. She's disciplined by the school, but Dad expresses nothing but pride in her. Laughing off the Bible's admonition to turn the other cheek, he says he's going to need to teach her how to hit without hurting her hand. In a moment of deep frustration, Sonja angrily hurls a glass into the kitchen sink, where it shatters. |
profanity | 2/10 One use each of "heck" and "oh my gosh." |
alcohol | None. |
frightening | 1/10 The injury at the baseball game is intense and could be frightening to more sensitive viewers and children. A hospital scene is both emotional and intense and is a time where even the "strong in the lord" can and may have their beliefs/faith challenged. |
