nudity 5/10 - as with most Bond movies, there is no female nudity but a fair amount of revealing clothing, implied sexual activities, and sexual innuendo in the conversations. (37:20) Bond's shirt is open and is lying on the floor on a woman, who is fully clothed but her cleavage shows in a low cut dress. They roll around and kiss and discuss her husband, but that is as far as it goes. (1:48:37) Bond is seen nude in a torture scene, although nothing graphic is shown rear nudity can be vaguely seen in some shots. While Vesper is being beaten in another room, Bond's genitals are being whipped. Moaning and screaming are heard. Nothing in this scene is actually sexual. (1:56:40) Bond and Vesper are speaking of sexual desires - Bond naked, Vesper saying that he can have her. (1:59:54) Bond and Vesper run into a room, then quickly end up in bed. It is implied they have sex, but nothing is shown. The next scene opens on a beach with Bond in swimming trunks, and her wearing a shirt, end up lying together embracing, then kissing, with him lying on top of her. (2:03:37) Scene opens showing two pairs of feet sticking out of a sheet, rolling around with laughing and kissing noises. Then moves to show them kissing together under the sheets. They get out of bed but no graphic nudity is shown. (2:15:22)While Bond is trying to revive Vesper, her very wet top clearly shows the shape of her breasts and nipples. He is also seen bare-chested in many scenes, a couple of them in sexual context although no graphic sex is shown. There are some sensual situations where Bond looks at rather attractive women. Other possible, mild references.
violence 7/10 - as with most Bond movies, there is a lot of violence but a limited amount of blood and gore. The opening sequence shows Bond violently beating a man, and then drowning him in a bathroom sink. The film contains sequences of action violence throughout. The violence is very realistic, and a lot of the violent scenes are very slow and have the potential to be disturbing. There are a few facial scratches on characters who have been beaten, with very little to no blood. Bond shoots a man directly in the chest. The man flips off his chair, and there is the sound of the bullet impacting his chest, although no blood. A scene of torture, where Bond is sadistically beaten with a knotted rope. It is very heavily implied that the target is his genitals, and we hear very disturbing shouts of pain. At the end of the sequence, the main antagonist threatens to cut off his genitals but is interrupted by another assassin. The implied torture death of a character, to which another character responds by turning away as if about to be sick. We see a close up of the dead character's face, and although no wounds are shown, her dead grey eyes staring into space could be disturbing. A character is blown up by his own device off-screen. Camera lingers on him right until the final moment. An innocent character has his neck broken but without an obvious sound effect to lessen the impact. A character is thrown down a stairwell and lands in a heap at the bottom. A character is choked to death by Bond, camera lingers on him as he dies slowly. We see his eyes bulging and his legs kicking as he struggles. One of the most disturbing Bond scenes. A character is shot in the head off-screen. We see his body fall to the ground in front of us with a clear bullet hole in his forehead. Other characters are shot but with no blood. A character drowns in a sinking building. Camera lingers on them as they die slowly. A character is shot in the eye with a nail-gun, graphic details are covered by the fact he's wearing dark sunglasses. Another character is shot in the back repeatedly by a nail-gun. A character is shocked by a Taser. Bond spends most of the action sequences bloodied and bruised.
profanity 2/10 M's favorite swear word is "Hell." It's heard as many as 10 times. M also says "Christ" The British swear words "Bloody" and "Bugger" are uttered a dozen times. Occasional uses of "Ass," "Damn," "Prick," "Bitch" and "Bastard."
alcohol 3/10 - Bond likes his cocktails, Alcohol is ordered and consumed by most of the characters. While gambling, Bond experiments with a martini combination and is pleased with the results. He also drinks to steady his nerves after a near-fatal confrontation.
frightening 8/10 A lot of the violent scenes have the potential to be disturbing, and the build-up is often very tense. The torture scene is very intense. As well, terrorists hold out a woman's arm and threaten to cut it off with a machete, though this scene is very brief, and the threat seems more intended to frighten another character than made in earnest. This scene is intense. Kids are seen in an African army, holding AK-47s. A few people might find this disturbing. IMO: Pretty damn violent and explicit for PG-13, but I think most people can still handle it. Overall: 26/50 Recommended Age: 14+
